Plate painting!

Friday, November 1st, 2013

In bed yesterday with the flu, and my darling (genius ceramicist) mother came over to help out and to cheer me up. She brought some ceramic paint with her. So, sofa-bound I painted a plate! It made me feel just that little bit better.

Just wanted to say what an amazing artist Sam Martin is.

Went to the opening of his latest show ‘Crystalise Borders‘ on Saturday. Sold all paintings bar 2 on opening night.

The last 2 might be sold by now as the rest lasted about the 1st 4 seconds!
He is also my sister‘s beau and very very cool!
Show on until 23 June.

Here’s a quick snap of some of the card designs in a pile. Sometimes in a pile is easier to view than in a list… or am I bonkers?

Le Chat is back!

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

Hello friends! Sorry for the recent lack of posts – I have been away travelling around Europe but am back home now and have lots of exciting illustration ideas. To cut a long and eventful story short, we spent 6 weeks travelling England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Paris and Barcelona.

Oh! The sights we saw… the art, the amazing food and the cute animals we met (the highland cattle were a HIGHlight).

It’s so nice to be back home too xx

P.S. I apologise for the tedious number of cat illustrations on my blog – there’s a bit of a theme, isn’t there..? I should try and tone it down a bit.

Doodles abroad!

Monday, May 30th, 2011

Pardon the title, but I’m really enjoying doodling.

On holiday in Europe and every time I see or hear something funny (or in this case, boring) I do a little sketch of it.

These were a couple of very loud tourists I overheard on the ferry from Ireland to Wales!

We saw lots of sheep as we hiked through the mountains of Ambleside, in the Lake District. ALL of them looked like the slender-faced black one on the right, apart from this one strange, wide-headed one that gave me a very long and direct stare!

Normal people would probably be doing sketches of Stone Henge, Tower Bridge, or Big Ben perhaps…

We caught up with friends Nicola and David on Friday night and as we sipped Baileys, I started drawing patterns and stripes on their plastic tiger. I was asked to, by the way! I don’t just randomly start drawing on people’s possessions with permanent marker.

The next day Nicola sent me a photo of their beautiful daughter Holly, me, and the tiger before his makeover, and another photo of Holly enjoying the tiger’s new look!

It was a whole new experience for me – giving a plastic tiger a makeover – and it was the most fun I’ve had in ages!!
